Classes LOVE games. BINGO has worked well for us so far. We recently started a beginner class on Friday nights. The students' ages range from 16ish-mid-forties. The first week, we went over the alphabet. We talked about the names of the letters, as well as the different sounds that each letter makes. For example, the letter "a" makes 3 different sounds: apple, ate, always. The letter "c" makes 2 sounds: cat, circle. We went through the alphabet, discussing sounds and example words, and to review, we played BINGO.
Hannah, Rachel, and I made 6 different cards. We drew a 5 x 5 grid and omitted one letter from each card. We then ran enough copies for the class. After teaching the sounds of the alphabet, we gave the cards to the students, and instead of calling out the names of the letters, we called out the sound(s) that the letters make.
They really really got into it.

hey!
So, i love love love the new esl blog. I don't know why the Company doesn't have an ESL idea exchange website!
which brings me to my next question....
Do you incorporate a spiritual component into your lessons or just build relationships with your students?
