“Starburst” Game

I refer to this as the “Starburst” game, because the first time I played it, it was with Starbursts (the candy). Rachel knows it as the “Skittles” game. Since being in Ukraine, I’ve played it twice using coing.

The basic idea: have several different types of something (i.e. different colored candy, like Starburst or Skittles OR different kinds of coins). Before beginning the game, determine a different question for each different type. *Examples: red candy = If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why? 25 kopek coin = If you could have any job, what job would you want?* Don’t tell the students what you are doing- just tell them to choose one (candy, coin, whatever). Once everyone has chosen, explain the game and what question to answer for each kind of candy. Go around the circle and have the students answer their questions.

Good game to take up time, get students talking, and to use as an ice breaker.
